For our 400th published Sirdar pattern, we wanted something simple with pandemic appeal. Here it is: a short-sleeved top-- or vest-- or tank-- or shell. Make it in a cotton blend for summer in any of its iterations, or in a wool or wool blend as a vest for chillier days. This is all, and only, st st. There is no extra finishing at the neck, or 'buttonbands' (there aren't any, you just make buttonholes on the right front and sew buttons onto the left front), or any special hem or edge or neckline treatment whatsoever. The waist is gently shaped, as are the shoulders; patch pockets are optional. Sweet, simple, basic, and essential in every kind of the suggested yarns.
