Was it in the 50's that this simple shape was nailed to the Classic Wall? Straight sides, close-fitting set-in sleeves, boat neck echoing the horizontal line of the hem-- all the usual suspects. Where Schrade tickles the tradition is in her choice of embellishment. She chooses a diamond lace panel and repeats it three times-- the diagonal diamond shape itself standing at odds with all the verticals and horizontals of the piece. It's very pretty, and airy, and is a lovely sweater to wear at any time of year.
