Very long capes, as vampires and Gothic heroines discover in real life, are cumbersome and result in tripping. So what you really want is something dramatic but shorter. If it's quick to make and in a luxurious textured yarn, why, so much the better. Here it is! There is a very gentle ridged pattern throughout, and the back is made separately from the fronts, so as to minimize managing large amounts of fabric during the knitting. Collar can be worn down as shown, or pushed up with a scarf underneath it. Dramatic, yes, but in a discreet calm sort of way.
