Superbly fitted and flawlessly judged. Look at how the centre panel snugs into the rest of the garment: all the full-fashioned shaping is so expertly designed that the whole seems crafted by the world's greatest knitwear tailor. The front is worked as an intarsia piece with three balls of yarn used simultaneously; the back is plain, one-colour. Gorgeously slimming, plain and severely elaborate at the same time, it's never been out of style, nor ever will be. Waist and back neck are shaped, of course. The original yarn was 70% extra-fine merino and 30% silk, 19 stitches to 4"/10cm on a 4.5mm/US7 needle, 109 yards or 100 metres to 50g.
